Each year consumers are moving more towards a cashless
society by increasing their dependence on credit and debit
cards. How is St.George accommodating this?
In this day and age it is becoming increasingly important for businesses to
provide payment options for their customers. EFTPOS facilities offer a
secure and convenient way for customers to transfer funds to business
accounts at the time of purchase. EFTPOS business payments are fast,
effcient and secure and can improve your cash fow and reduce business
risk. St.George can offer a tailored EFTPOS service. Whether your business
requires a stand-alone facility, mobile facility or an integrated facility into
your POS systems, St.George can provide the required solution.
For EFTPOS, how competitive is St.George in the
St.George provides leading rates of 0.655% and 0.227% (excluding GST)
for credit and debit card transactions respectively, with the added beneft
of one merchant fee for Visa and MasterCard transactions. The application
process is fast and simple, and at no additional cost stationery can be
ordered through the 24/7 Help Desk and the terminal. St.George also
offers Pen or PIN capability to allow faster credit card transaction
processing with a 99.89% system reliability rate.
An important part of running a newsagency is cash fow.
How can St.George assist Newsagents in this way?
When you link your EFTPOS facility to a St.George transaction banking
account, you will be able to take advantage of six-day a week overnight
settlement. This means your Saturday trading settlement will be available
in your account overnight, as opposed to receiving the value 48-72 hours
later in some cases. This assists with cash fow by ensuring that trading for
one of your busiest trading days is available to you as quickly as possible.
One of the other added benefts that St.George provides to merchants is
the TOUCH product suite on the EFTPOS terminal. This product is free of
charge with no locked-in contract and is a value-added service that allows
you to resell over 200 electronic products and services through the
EFTPOS terminal, such as mobile recharge and calling cards, at a proft to
the merchant. These are more reasons to bring customers into the store
and also provide an additional revenue stream without having to have
stock on hand.
The ANF has had a successful EFTPOS relationship with
St.George for a few years now. In what other ways
is St.George able to make banking simpler and easier for
St.George can offer a wide range of banking solutions to facilitate
newsagents day-to-day running of their business. These include
day-to-day business transaction accounts, Express Saver accounts

To complement your everyday transactional account and ensure complete

So, essentially, you will have control of all your St.George

also provides the ability to download bank account reports for easy

What type of account can assist Newsagents in maximising
their earning potential?
Newsagents can maximise their earning potential of deposit funds with an
Express Saver Account for Business. It has been specifcally designed to
help Businesses manage their cash fow and to provide Businesses with
additional investment options. Funds can be transferred between the
Express Saver Account and a nominated account that you hold with
St.George or any other Australian fnancial institution.
Our customers generally deposit surplus daily funds into the Express Saver
Account to take advantage of its high rate of interest. Interest is calculated
daily on the full balance in your Express Saver Account and paid monthly.
Unlike other investment options, earning a favourable rate of interest
using the Express Saver account does not require you to lock your funds
away for a set period. Thus, should an unexpected bill arise, you can
readily recall funds into your nominated account to cover the expense.
As an added bonus, the Express Saver Account does not attract any
account-keeping or transaction fees.
